Terms of service

Last updated 1 September 2026

Four things matter here. Nothing on this website is a binding offer, and an enquiry is not an order. The price is quoted and agreed before any cloth is cut, so there is no figure that moves afterwards. The terms of your particular order — cloth, price, fittings, deposit and collection date — are written down with you before you pay anything. And altering a garment we made is part of the job rather than an extra charge.

These terms apply to orders placed with The Outfit Custom Tailor, 334, 42 Bang Tao Beach, Choeng Thale, Phuket 83110, Thailand — the tailor in Bangtao. How we handle the information you give us is a separate document: how we handle your information.

What a quote includes, and when the price is fixed

The figures published on this site are starting prices, given in Thai baht. What a garment actually costs depends on the cloth you choose, how the garment is constructed and the number of pieces, so a published figure is a starting point rather than a quotation — the full ladder is on what a garment costs here.

Your actual price is quoted at the consultation, agreed with you, and fixed at that point. It does not change afterwards unless you change the order — a different cloth, an added waistcoat, a second trouser. Nothing on this website constitutes a binding offer, and sending an enquiry does not create an order or oblige either of us to anything.

Deposits

A deposit confirms your order and secures the cloth. It exists because cloth cut to your measurements cannot be sold to anybody else, not as a commitment device. When the balance falls due is part of what is written down with you before you pay anything, rather than a fixed rule set out here.

The deposit for your order — the amount, when it is due, and whether it is refundable — is agreed with you in writing before you pay it, along with the cloth, the total price, the number of fittings and the collection date. Ask for that in a message you can keep, and you will get it.

We do not publish a standard deposit percentage here, and that is deliberate rather than evasive: an order for one shirt and an order for a five-man wedding party are not the same commitment, and a single published figure would be wrong for one of them. What is fixed is the principle — no deposit is taken before the terms of that deposit are written down and agreed. Our own guide to avoiding the Phuket tailor scam tells readers to insist on exactly that before paying anybody on this island, and it would be a poor guide if it did not apply here.

Fittings and timelines

The number of fittings included is agreed as part of your quote, and for most garments it is two to three. Most pieces are ready in 24 to 48 hours over those fittings, and that figure depends on the garment — a fully canvassed jacket, a cloth we have to order in, or a fit needing a third fitting will take longer, and we will say so before you commit rather than afterwards. The busy months change how easily the appointments can be booked rather than how long a garment takes.

Dates are agreed against your travel dates. If your plans change, tell us as early as you can: depending on the stage the garment has reached we can usually either bring the finishing forward or complete it after you leave and ship it to you. A date agreed in good faith is not a guarantee against a supplier delay or an unexpected closure, and where something is outside our control we will tell you promptly and offer the options honestly.

If a garment is not right

Tell us, and tell us early. A garment that does not fit is corrected — that is what the fittings exist for, and a correction found at a fitting is normal work rather than a complaint.

Message us if something is wrong after you have collected the garment. Where the problem is the fit, it is altered. Where the problem is the making rather than a change of mind, that difference is what decides the remedy. What we cannot treat as a fault is a decision you made and later regret: a cloth you chose, a cut you asked for, or a fit you confirmed at the final fitting.

The specific remedy for a specific problem — alteration, remake, or a refund, and on what terms — is agreed with you at the time rather than set out as a fixed policy here, because the right answer differs between a hem that is a centimetre out and a garment that cannot be worn. If you want that spelled out in advance for your order, ask before you pay a deposit and it will be put in writing with everything else.

Alterations after delivery

Altering a garment we made is part of the job, not an extra. A garment we cut is one we expect to adjust — bodies change, and a suit that needs taking in a year later is a suit being worn, which is the outcome we wanted. Adjustments to our own work are handled as part of the relationship rather than billed as new work.

Message us anyway if you are no longer in Phuket. Your pattern and measurements stay on file, so an adjustment can often be worked out remotely and the garment sent to a tailor near you with instructions, or handled on your next visit. Alterations to garments made by someone else are ordinary paid work, and what is possible on them is set out under alterations.

Cancellation

Before any cloth is cut, an order can be cancelled. Cloth that has been ordered in specifically for you may already have been bought at that point, and where that is the case we will tell you plainly what has and has not been committed.

Once cutting has begun, a garment made to your measurements cannot be sold to anybody else, which is the reason bespoke work is treated differently from a retail purchase everywhere in the world. Where an order is cancelled after cutting, what happens to any deposit is decided against the terms you agreed when you paid it — which is the practical reason those terms are written down first.

Contact

Questions about any of this, before or after an order, go to a real person. Email hello@theoutfitcustomtailor.com, call 081 444 6362, or come to the shop — it is a fixed address with ordinary opening hours, and where to find us in Bangtao has the map and the directions.
