The jacket is the strongest case in womenswear: shoulders and bust shaping are exactly what off-the-peg gets wrong and alterations cannot fix.

• Bridal wear is not made here. We will say so rather than take the order.

How a garment is cut to your body

This is the part no catalogue explains, and it is four steps rather than a mystery. Each one names what you do and what the workshop does.

• 1. Measuring. You stand as you normally stand, in the underwear you intend to wear with the garment. We take around twenty measurements, including underbust separately from bust, high hip separately from hip, nape to waist for torso length, and each shoulder slope on its own. Posture and any asymmetry are noted at the same time.
• 2. Drafting. You choose the cloth and the shape. We draw a pattern from those measurements rather than adjusting an existing block, which is what allows a bust two sizes above a waist to be a normal instruction rather than a problem.
• 3. First fitting. You try the garment while it is deliberately incomplete, tacked with contrasting thread and often with one sleeve on. We check where the waist actually lands on you, whether the bust shaping is in the right place and the right amount, and how the garment moves when you sit and reach. Everything is still changeable at this point.
• 4. Correction and finish. You come back and confirm. We make the marked changes, check them on your body, and finish the garment. A third fitting is added when the fit needs one rather than as an extra.

What happens at each fitting

Womenswear usually needs one more fitting than menswear, because there is more shaping to decide and every dart and seam is easier to judge on a body than on paper.

• First fitting — a working session on a deliberately incomplete garment. It will not look finished, and everything is still changeable.
• Second fitting — the corrections are checked and the lengths marked against your shoes.
• Final fitting — a finished garment confirmed. Small things still move; structural lines do not. The longer version, and why women’s sizing fails structurally, is in how a bespoke garment is fitted to you.

What to bring, and what to wear

Four things, and the first two change the fit that gets marked.

• The shoes you will wear with it. Hem length is marked against a heel height and nothing substitutes for one.
• The underwear you intend to wear with it. For anything fitted through the bust this moves the measurement by more than any other variable.
• A garment that already fits you well, and one that fits badly if you know why.
• A picture of the shape you have in mind. It removes more ambiguity than a description does.

Cut for a woman, not resized from a man's block

A women’s pattern here is drafted from your own measurements rather than adapted from a men’s block, and the two methods have different ceilings. Most generalist tailors sell menswear and womenswear from the same page, and a good many cut them from the same starting shapes.

What changes what a garment costs

Four things move the figure, and none of them is a surprise added afterwards.

• The cloth. The largest single variable, and the one you control most directly. Weight and weave matter more here than the fibre name does.
• The lining. Whether the garment is lined, half-lined or unlined changes both the cost and how wearable it is in this climate.
• The construction. How much of the shaping is stitched rather than fused, which matters most on jackets.
• The number of fittings. Each appointment is time, and a garment needing a third fitting costs more than one that does not.

How long it takes

Most pieces are ready in 24 to 48 hours over two to three fittings, and that is what the workshop publishes rather than a promise that survives every circumstance. The busy months change how easily the appointments can be booked rather than how long a garment takes. It applies comfortably to a dress, a blouse or a trouser on a straightforward build, when you are available for the fittings.

What that window will not absorb is a structured jacket in a full canvas, a cloth we do not hold and must order in, or a fit that needs a third fitting. Tell us the day you land and the day you fly, and we will say plainly what is achievable between them, including when the answer is that a garment should wait.

Fittings at your hotel or villa

Fittings do not have to happen in a shop. We come to hotels and villas across Bangtao, Cherngtalay, Laguna and Surin, which for most visitors is a short errand rather than a drive across the island.

For womenswear this matters more than convenience. Being measured and fitted in your own room, in your own time, with your own mirror and no shop floor beyond the door, is a materially different experience from a curtained corner. Garments we have made

Photographs of garments made in this workshop, on the people they were made for, rather than stock images bought from a library. That is a low bar and a surprising number of tailoring sites in this market do not clear it.
