How it works, from first visit to finished garment

The four stages

A conversation, a measuring session, the fittings, and collection. The first one is where a timeline gets checked against reality.

1. The conversation. What the garment is for, when you need it, and what you already own that works. This is where a timeline is checked against reality — if your dates do not allow what you want made, you are told at this point rather than after a deposit.
2. Measuring and cloth. Around twenty measurements, taken by the person who will cut the garment, plus notes on posture, shoulder slope and anything asymmetric. Then the cloth books, with the weight and weave advice that goes with them. The quote is confirmed in full before anything is cut.
3. The fittings. The first is on a deliberately incomplete garment, so the shape is still open and substantial change is cheap. The second checks that the corrections landed and marks the lengths against the shoes you brought. Everything narrows as it goes: this is the part worth being honest during, and what happens at each fitting sets out what is still changeable at each stage.
4. Finishing and collection. The garment is pressed, finished and confirmed on your body. Small adjustments are still possible here; structural ones are not, because undoing a finished jacket is most of the work of building a new one.

How long each one takes

The measuring session is the longest appointment and the final fitting is twenty minutes; the two in between are working sessions rather than fixed slots.

Elapsed time matters more than appointment time. Most pieces are ready in 24 to 48 hours over two to three fittings, and the constraint is the working time between appointments rather than the sewing itself. The busy months change how easily those appointments can be booked rather than how long a garment takes, and how long a tailored suit takes sets out exactly what we do and do not publish about that. A full-canvas build, a cloth we do not hold, or a fit needing a third fitting will not compress into that window, and you will be told so before you commit.

What to bring to the first visit

• The shoes you will wear with it. Trouser length is marked against a heel height and nothing substitutes for one.
• A shirt of the sort you normally wear, so sleeve length is set against something real.
• A garment that already fits you well, if you own one. Two minutes of pointing beats twenty minutes of describing.
• A garment that fits badly, if you know why. What annoys you about it is more useful than most measurements.
• Your travel dates, including the day you fly. This decides what is realistic more than anything else does.
• A picture, if you have one. Ambiguity about shape is where disappointment starts.

What happens if it does not fit

It gets corrected, and that is not a concession — it is what the fittings are for. A problem found at a fitting is ordinary work rather than a complaint, and nobody here is annoyed to hear about one. The expensive version of this is the customer who says "it's fine" because they do not want to be difficult, and then dislikes the garment quietly for a decade.

After collection the same applies. If the fit is wrong, it is altered. If the making is at fault rather than a choice you later regret, that difference decides the remedy, and what the remedy is gets agreed with you at the time. And if you are no longer in Phuket, message anyway: your pattern is on file, so an adjustment can often be worked out remotely or handled on your next visit to the workshop in Bangtao. Altering a garment we made is part of the job rather than new work, which is stated in full in our terms.

Ordering again after you go home

Your pattern and measurements stay on file, so a second garment can be ordered from where you live and shipped to you. You do not need to fly back to buy your second suit. Bodies change, so you will be asked to confirm a couple of measurements before anything is cut — a short conversation rather than a repeat of the first appointment.

That makes the first trip the one that matters. The measuring and the fittings are the part that takes time, and once the pattern is right, everything after it is a cloth choice and a message. It is also the honest answer when a trip is too short: shirts now, a suit on the next visit, with the pattern established in between.

Prices are published rather than quoted after we have met you, and the fittings are included in them rather than added afterwards — the figures for every garment are on what a garment costs here. The exact quote is confirmed before anything is cut, and it does not move afterwards unless you change the order.
